Featured Homeowner: Terri Naguib

The Naguib family is a wonderful reminder of why Habitat for Humanity exists.  When selected to receive their home, the Naguib family was living in a poorly maintained one bedroom apartment struggling to make the high monthly rent payment.  Terri was committed to providing her daughter the safest environment possible and therefore shared the one small bedroom with her daughter since they were unable to afford a two bedroom apartment in a safe community.    

After their selection, Terri and Lizzy went to work completing their sweat equity hours.  They were seen on the construction site regularly working alongside our regular volunteers and volunteers from the South Carolina Realtors Association who sponsored the house.  Terri and Lizzy also completed hours in the ReStore on days the construction site was closed.  In addition, Terri attended our Steps to Successful Homeownership Program where she learned about financial budgeting, credit management, bank services, home safety and maintenance, and legal issues.

The Naguib family is now flourishing in their Habitat home.  The stability of owning her own home gave Terri the confidence she needed to return to school and graduate with her esthetician license from Trident Technical College.   Her daughter, Lizzy, is a bright and bubbly fourth grade student at East Cooper Montessori Charter School.  Lizzy now has her own room where she can finish her homeowner and invite friends over to play.
